A couple of tips I can offer. Always warm up and cool down to avoid injuring yourself, drink plenty of fluids. Listen to your body, if it tells you to rest do so, don’t burn yourself out. Never eat before training but take a banana for when your finished.

I find it hard to fit it time to go to the gym ect with 4 kids! But I think vigorous housework & non stop running around after the kids gives you a lot of excercise! Also things like going out for a nice long walk, or playing sports in the garden with them like football (even though I must be the worst football player ever!) lol

My kids are 4 and 2 so finding time to go to the gym is difficult but we always walk to and from school and don’t take the car unless absolutely necessary. It is possible to jog (sedately) whilst pushing my son in the pram too – although we get funny looks. Basically we try to make sure that we get fresh air every day and move our bodies off the sofa!

Aha! Finally it let me in – Fitness tip number 1 – exercise your fingers forget your password for wordpress! Seriously though I am very scared when i’m unfit of going back to the gym. I therefore went the home DVD route and I love them, they do work and they get me to a point of feeling abe to face the gym! So drink water, set some time for yourself and shake your tooshy in the lounge!

My tip is to try to build excercise into your day. Either cycle to work, or park your car ten minutes from work or school and walk the rest of the way! Helps the environment and saves petrol too!

My fitness tip is vary each session. That way you make sure you work all you muscles and don’t get bored. Do arms & core one day. Next Legs, shoulders & chest. Write out a schedule of what you plan on doing each session. Then you can swap things around to suit.

my fitness tip would be when you start a new exercise start only 10 mins for a week or so then build it up to 20 min a couple of weeks later then 30 mins. this way you won’t damage any muscles x

Your body gets used to routine very quickly and you can soon hit a point where you dont benefit as much from the routine so my tip would be to spice it up now and then by trying a new video or routine or new exercise once a week. You get to try new things and also maybe work parts your normal routine doesnt work.

Work out regularly. Aim to train two to five times a week. Each session should last between 20 minutes to an hour. Remember it is the quality (not the quantity) of the time you spend training that leads to progression. I joined the gym last September and have lost just over 4st the best tip I can give is to cut back on what you eat, I cut out Chocolate, Crisps & Sweets. Drink plenty of water, eat more fresh fruit and veg and try to take some form of exercise three times a walk. Simply walking more can help or even swimming if your not into going to the gym. You’ll be surprized at just how much better you’ll feel and look

An easy way to tone up is to use the bottom step of your stairs as a ‘step’ tread up and down to music and it will help tone up the lower half of your body

Abs are made in the kitchen! Watch your diet. Record your food and make sure you take in enough good fats. ALso try interval training, HITT or tabata to make the most of your time in the gym. Ask a trainer to check out your form or to work out a programme for you and evaluate and change it every 6-8 weeks.

When visiting the supermarket/cinema/restaurant etc don’t drive and drive around the car park wasting litres of fuel and money just to find a parking spot as close as possible to the entrance. Instead park as far away as possible and use the opportunity to take a nice brisk walk in to the venue. It’s healthy for your heart and your wallet.

My best tip to keep fit is to get into your exercise clothes as soon as you can, just getting changed is half of the effort of making yourself go! I find that if I get changed I will go, whereas if I don’t I just think ohwell I’ll do it another day!

Sign up for a charity event, so you have a target to aim for. Last year I did the 13 Mile Marsden March and 26 mile Moonwalk. My friends and I devised a strict training regime and stuck to it… we got much fitter and lost lbs and raised ££’s for charity!

Tip to get fit – try to walk as much as possible – leave your car at home or take the bus for a change and get off a few stops earlier! If you have a family or a dog – get yourself out walking with them regularly! There are so many lovely places to walk in every locality! If it is wet, take a brolly and put on your water proofs! If you are on your own, join a walking group – great way to keep fit and make friends too!

My tip is to cool down after working out , for me the best way to do this is to do some stretching after exercise.
Also, I find it’s always a good idea to give your muscles time to rest between workouts, because muscles really need time to heal and restore their energy stores. If you don’t let your muscles rest between workouts can cause injuries.

My tip to getting fit is to cycle, even if you only cycle gently it is still good for toning up and burning calories. I do it everyday for work and it has really helped me.

I think the best tip is to walk, walk as much as you can. I have just started walking myself, i suffer with agoraphobia & have just started leaving the house after staying in for a year! Just some short walks to build up my confidence and to also help me get fit again. Walking is free and easy to do.

My best tip for getting fit is to find a friend to work out with. It’s hard to find the motivation to get/keep fit when you are busy with work and family but I am much less likely to skip a class or a run if I’m meeting a friend as I don’t want to let them down. Plus I always look forward to a coffee and gossip afterwards 😉

I think sometimes the idea of getting fit can feel a bit overwhelming so I’d recommend small steps to build confidence, which can then be built on e.g. getting off the bus a stop early and walking that last bit, walking to work/shop/school where possible instead of taking the car, taking the stairs NOT the lift or walking the dog for 5 mins more each time.

Other than ensure you are hydrated (if you feel thirsty you are dehydrated and it’s too late, drink little and often) and warm up and cool down properly to avoid injuries, my best tip to keep motivated is NOT weigh yourself, stepping on the scales too often easily unmotivates you, get on them once every six months and feel good by your clothes rather than the number on the scales

I always try to walk a bit more so park my car at the far end of the carpark, or get off the bus a stop before I have to. I alwys take the stairs and not a lift. You can get a fairly cheap pedometer to measure how many steps you take then try and increase it each day. You will soon notice the difference.
