In November, I told you about the Carbon Monoxide Campaign: Be Alarmed to help raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The campaign is still going on and it’s important that you are aware of the dangers of CO poisoning and the importance of having a carbon monoxide alarm at home.

If you are a British soap watcher you will have recently noticed the reoccurring and serious dangers surrounding carbon monoxide poising and the importance of using a fully qualified gas safe registered engineer for any work involving gas appliances.

You may have seen that Coronation Street featured a story on carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning over the festive and New Year period – with one of the characters, Fiz, becoming very ill and close to death as a result of exposure to the gas.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is easily preventable, yet every year it needlessly kills and injures people across the UK. To help change this, we need to make sure people know what to look out for and how to protect themselves.

As carbon monoxide has no smell, taste or colour, the most important way to do this is with a carbon monoxide alarm. Currently, however, only 1 in 10 households has one.

I must confess that before I heard about the campaign a few months ago, I didn’t have a carbon monoxide alarm installed as I didn’t know my family was at risk. I am pleased to say that now my family is protected from carbon monoxide poisoning.

For more information, please visit the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed! website.

I’m pleased to inform you that I was offered 3 carbon monoxide alarms to give away to my readers.
