During winter, it is important to keep your family safe while driving.
Of course we hope that we won’t have any accidents or break down, but it usually happens when we are least expecting it.
RAC offers car breakdown cover in case anything happens while you are out driving with your family.
They also have a range of products to make driving safer and stress-free.
RAC Winter Driving Kit (RRP £19.99) comes with all the essentials needed during the wet and cold winter season. The kit is presented in a storage case that you can keep in the boot.
It contains De-icer spray 300ml, Screen wash 500ml, Emergency Foil Blanket, Microfibre De-mister pad, Antibacterial Hand Wipes, Wind Up Torch and Ice Scraper with Gloves.
There is a lovely selection of products to keep your car clean from ice and snow. The wind-up torch is great as it doesn’t need batteries.
RAC Mediwrap Thermal Blanket Family Pack (RRP £29.99) contains RAC Mediwrap thermal blankets for 2 adults and 2 children.
When you’re travelling with your family this winter, drive with peace of mind knowing that if you break down, you can keep everyone safe, warm and visible, until help arrives.
The high protection thermal blankets are soft, comfortable and absorbent on the inside, while being wind and waterproof on the outside.
They are highly visible and they are used to keep people warm and dry by the Ambulance, Fire & Police Services and the British Army.
I hope we don’t need to use our Travel blankets, but we have it now in the boot of the car if necessary.
For your chance to win RAC Winter Driving Kit and RAC Mediwrap Thermal Blanket Family Pack, please follow the instructions below:

Following by email. We normally have a 7-8 hour drive for our summer holiday, and it used to be a bit of a nightmare keeping the kids amused. Now they’re older it’s technology all the way! Nintendo 3DS, MP3 players, phones, DVD’s, Kindles – as long as they’re quiet, I don’t care! A far cry from my car journeys of old where I had to beg my father to let me put one of my cassettes on lol

I will be driving a 300+ mile journey up North to visit my grandparents over half term week… my 3 boys will definitely be bored on the way. The eldest (13) will be listening to music on his phone or busy on facebook probably. My 9 year old and 7 year old like to take some cards, some colouring books, comics and play I spy or count certain types of cars they see. Will be making lots of stops at service stations too as it will be an all day journey. Not much looking forward to it although the 300 mile trip home to Dorset will be much better 😉 Ces xx

We keep our little boys entertained on long car journeys with different games, like I Spy, and who can spot the next Lorry, or Motorbike or even Peugeot as they recognise the badge as we used to own a Peugeot. These games can easily fill up at least an hour, and we will break up the journeys with games on their Nintendo DS. We also listen to music and sing, often in funny voices.
As they are now both in Primary School we also give them sums to do, dependant on their age. My eldest little boy likes to do spellings too, and they also give us sums and spellings to do also.

The children are grown up now and use their iPod’s to keep them entertained. When they were little we used to sing along to a CD or discuss surroundings as we are going along. Also played spot the number plate where a letter or number is picked and the first one to spot 20 car number plates containing said letter or number won the game.

Singing along to a favourite CD, playing word games (My grandmother’s cat etc. which usually produced a lot of laughter), playing the story game (say a sentence which starts a story and everyone adds a sentence in turn) – all these make journeys seem much shorter!

We usually take a portable DVD player and they have their DS consoles now. When they were younger we made up goody bags and handed out something new each hour. Only small things from the £1 shops but it made a HUGE difference. PS, I already follow yourb blog 🙂
